The Culture of Growth Education Podcast is designed to share and promote my learning as a teacher and school leader.

In this episode, Joe is joined by his principal colleague Aoife Cahill.  Joe and Aoife chat about their respective journey’s in dealing with the transition to distance and online learning.  They chat about what has been heartwarming, what has been challenging and their hopes moving forward.

The Goldbook Edition

In this episode, Joe shares his high school's journey implementing a new process for grade 12 student this school year called the "Goldbook".  In an effort to support students through their graduation year, Joe describes how his staff developed the "Goldbook" and it's introduction to students this past September.   He is also joined by one of the school's amazing counsellors, Mrs. Glass, to find out how this process is going so far.  Enjoy!

High School Redesign

In this Episode, Joe shares his high schools journey into High School Redesign and how they are using a flex block called P.E.P. (Personalized Educational Period) to support student learning and to offer professional development for staff.  Joe also interviews students about how they are using this time each week.  Enjoy!

Classroom Swap!

In this Episode, Joe interviews Sarah Balla about the new Classroom Swap program that their school district has launched new this year.  In this program, teachers can swap for 1 - 5 days with another teacher for a professional learning opportunity.  Teachers interested can email Sarah at sarahb@eics.ab.ca to get more information.

In this episode, Joe interviews Sarah Balla, a high school teacher and Wellness Consultant for Elk Island Catholic Schools.  Sarah is currently involved in support the Health Champions at each school in the district and she is supporting the implementation of our district’s new Nutrition Administrative Procedure.  Sarah is leading the implementation of positive mental health and wellness strategies for students and staff throughout our schools, especially in Sarah’s key role as a leader with our district’s Connections Project!
